Gonzo Travel is a play on the form of journalism coined by Hunter S. Thompson. When you travel gonzo style, you have no itinerary, no plans, no booked hotels. You travel by the seat of your pants. You scoff at people who lug around their 5kg copy of Lonely Planet or Lets Go. For the gonzo traveler, all you need is the pack on your back, an ear for word of mouth advice and a keen sense of adventure. If the best memories of your travels are the unplanned events, then an entire unplanned vacation must no doubt be the ultimate experience. It's only logical! This 100% free site is dedicated to the retelling of your best gonzo traveling experiences and stories.

Please feel free to sign up. It is 100% free with no advertisements and no spam whatsoever. You can be fully confident that your personal information will not be used in any shape or form. The site only costs $100/year to run and I am more than willing to eat that cost personally. I feel it is well worth it.

I think the site is finally ready to go live. After a week of beta testing and changes, I think I'm quite happy with the layout and features of the site. The private forums are still an up in the air question on what is going to happen with them. I think for the time being (and perhaps forever), I'll just leave them alone using the 3rd party software.

If you have any questions about how to post content or navigate the site, feel free to post them in the forums or email me. I'm compiling a site FAQ and there is probably a billion questions that aren't apparent to me. At this point any little bit of feedback is invaluable to making the site as good as it could be. Even if there isn't something you don't like or are having difficulty with, post about what you like in particular, or what feature you'd feel would improve the site.

Site FAQ

Why did you make this site?
I've always wanted a place where I can post pictures and stories about my travels. I've tried a couple sites that offer that, but I just didn't really like the way it was laid out. So I decided to just make my own site. The further I found out what I can do with the software I'm using, the more I thought it would be ideal for all sorts of travellers who share a similar interest in travelling without a guide book or agenda.

Does this site cost money?
No it does not. I don't plan on ever charging to use the site. The site will always be free to use. If the site becomes too popular for my bandwidth/storage space to handle, I may ask for donations. I'd like to not have any advertisements. I can't stand annoying banner/flash ads and if I ever have to resort to that, it'll just be the tasteful google ads.

What can I use the site for?

Online Image Resizer

Depending on the colour deapth used, you might have to select the smallest image size. Try creating the largest resolution, and if that doesn't work, create a smaller image. Thanks to www.resize2mail.com for this free service.
